Their heartbreaking loss to India within the World Cup semifinal notwithstanding, Pakistan’s cricket team was accorded a grand welcome on its homecoming at Karachi and Lahore airports.
The fans carrying banners and garlands and shouting slogans, welcomed the team at each Karachi and Lahore airports.
Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif received cricketers at the Lahore airport.
"You have done us proud by reaching the semi-finals once beating larger groups. Victory and defeat is a component and parcel of the sport and that we settle for it," Shahbaz told reporters at the airport.
"The folks appreciate your toil and hope you may still perform and improve within the same manner," he said whereas saying a grand reception for the players on April five in Lahore.
Pakistan squad reached Karachi from India via Dubai early this morning.
While Afridi, Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq left for his or her homes in Karachi, the remainder of the players flew to Lahore.
PCB Chief Ijaz Butt said he was happy to ascertain the response of the folks.
"I am happy to ascertain the welcome given to the players as a result of they have our support and encouragement to perform higher in future," Butt said.
